For the second consecutive year, Forest Park Conservancy is thrilled to partner with Thomas’® Breads –makers of the iconic Thomas’ English Muffins known for their signature “Nooks & Crannies” texture – to make an impact and give back to the local community on National Public Lands Day (Saturday, September 24th) during a morning session beginning (9am – 12pm) and an afternoon session (1:00pm – 4:00pm).
This sign-up page is for the morning volunteer event from 9 - noon.
An active supporter of environmental sustainability, Thomas’ is seeking 100 volunteers for two cleanup events to provide seasonal trail maintenance in Forest Park. Thomas’, the exclusive National Public Lands Day Sponsor for Forest Park Conservancy, will be giving some love to nature’s Nooks & Crannies adventures of this special place and will be celebrating the trails that have helped sustain the community and its nature-enthusiasts.
Our continued partnership with Thomas’ represents a commitment to restore and improve public lands. This collaborative effort will support trails throughout the Pacific Northwest, focusing on protecting Forest Park's ecological health while encouraging responsible recreation and access.
During this stewardship event, volunteers will be supporting the Forest Park Trails Program, increasing the safety and accessibility of the Forest’s soft-surface trails. The work helps to maintain the long-term health and integrity of the 47 miles of soft-surface trails, keeping them free from debris and leaves. The work on National Public Lands Day will accomplish a large portion of our annual trail maintenance work, which supports our year-round program.
All volunteers who participate in the cleanup events will be invited to gather after the volunteer event at 12 p.m. at Lower Macleay Park for a complimentary meal to remember featuring Thomas’ favorites like English Muffins and Bagels. The meal will be provided by our friends at The Daily Feast! Participants will also receive a branded t-shirt commemorating the effort.
