Celebrate National Public Lands Day with FPC on Saturday, September 27, 2025!
Join the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. National Public Lands Day brings together thousands of people to care for and celebrate the outdoor spaces we all share. This year’s theme—“Our Home Outdoors”—highlights how public lands are woven into our daily lives, from neighborhood parks to national treasures. Whether you're planting trees, restoring trails, or simply gathering in nature, your actions help keep these spaces vibrant and welcoming.
This year Forest Park Conservancy will be celebrating by hosting volunteer restoration events in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park! We'll be removing invasive plants to make space for native species to thrive and support future revegetation efforts. This important work helps improve the health and resilience of the forest ecosystem for years to come
When: Saturday, September 27th, 9am to 12pm.
Where: NW Leif Erikson Dr. at NW Thurman St. Parking is limited. Carpooling is encouraged!
What: Removing and cutting up invasive species. We will be working on the trails, which requires hiking (up to 3 miles) and physical labor in the forest (up to 2.5 hours).
Long pants, long socks, and sturdy, closed-toe tennis shoes or hiking boots are required for your safety. Long-sleeved shirts and weather appropriate layers for sun/wind/rain are also recommended. Make sure to bring a water bottle - many folks find it beneficial to bring a small backpack as well. In recent years we have seen an uptick in bee activity, if you have any allergies, please bring medications in case of emergency! Training, tools, snacks, coffee, and work gloves will be provided.

Big thanks to KEEN for sponsoring National Public Lands Day this year! We have worked with KEEN a lot in the past and they have been a major supporter of our work. We are excited to continue our partnership with them to host NLPD 2025!
