Note: while the three workshops in this series have an interconnected theme and do build on each other, it is not necessary to take all three, or take any one workshop as a prerequisite for another. Participants are asked to bring a camera they are familiar with and can use during the workshop. An SLR-type camera is recommended, with settings for manual exposure. To get the most out of the workshop, participants should be able to download photos taken during the event to a MacBook Pro, to be shared with the group.
Due to the popularity of our public events, this event has a cap on the number of participants who can attend. If you are unable to attend this event, please let us know as soon as possible. This allows us to notify people who are on the waiting list and better coordinate with event leaders. Thanks for your understanding
Workshop 2. Saturday, August 24, 9-noon. Telling Stories with the camera: landscapes. We think of landscape photos as static, as postcards or still life paintings. But with the added dimension of storytelling, a landscape can become a novel, or a movie. We’ll take basic camera technology like exposure, focus and composition to tell our own stories within the landscape of Forest Park. In this workshop, we’ll explore the majestic Douglas Fir groves to look for elements of stories each participant creates. Results will be shared for class discussion. Location: Lower Macleay Park

Attendance: We understand that unexpected situations can arise, but it's crucial for the success of our events that participants keep us updated. If you find yourself unable to attend, we kindly ask that you promptly drop out to allow others the opportunity to participate.
Failure to attend without prior notice not only impacts the smooth functioning of our events but also affects the experience of other participants. Thank you so much for your understanding!
