Please refer to the Get Connected volunteer calendar or the FPC Events Calendar to checkout the locations and work descriptions for each work party, then you can register for the corresponding shift date here. If there is no volunteer event on the calendar for a VCL shift, then it is a private event. Reach out to kyla@forestparkconservancy.org for event details. Are you a regular at Forest Park Conservancy volunteer events and ready to take the next step? Consider becoming a Volunteer Crew Leader (VCL)!

VCLs are essential to making our volunteer work parties run smoothly. They:

Arrive early to help set up and welcome volunteers.Support FPC staff during the event by fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere.Help guide trail work, ensuring high-quality standards and sharing skills with fellow volunteers.Wrap up the day with tool clean-up and a debrief with staff.

With some FPC events bringing in 30+ volunteers, VCLs make a huge difference in creating a supportive and successful experience for everyone.

Becoming a Volunteer Crew Leader is a great opportunity to hone your leadership skills, meet new people, expand your knowledge of trails maintenance best practices, and spend more time in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park!

When: Saturday, November 8th, 9 am - 12 pm.

Where: TBD. Parking is limited. Carpooling is encouraged!

What: We’ll start with a 30-minute introduction covering FPC’s work, the raking season, and the role of VCLs. Then, we’ll head out for about 2.5 hours of trail work—raking, learning, and connecting as we go. Expect hiking (up to 3 miles) on uneven terrain and physical labor in the forest. No previous leadership experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm!

Long pants, long socks, and sturdy, closed-toe tennis shoes or hiking boots with good traction are required for your safety. Long-sleeved shirts and weather appropriate layers for sun/wind/rain are also recommended. Make sure to bring a water bottle - many folks find it beneficial to bring a small backpack as well. If you have any allergies, please bring medications in case of emergency!
